Positive Benefits of Creating or Viewing Art Work
Friday, November 13, 2009 at 7:34PM To maintain my professional license, I have to take 8 continuing education credits per year. Today I took a course entitled Art Works: How the art you specify affects health, safety and well-being. I had high expectations for the course but did not learn anything that quilters and knitters do not already know!
Creating or viewing art can:
Reduce blood pressure
Elevate mood
Reduce perceived pain
We viewed photos of art and architecture for 8 hours. Only ONE piece of textile art showed up during that entire time! It was a lovely crazy quilt on a bed. I do like my textile art on the bed. And on the walls and on the table and on the floor and on my garments and on ......
Antique Lone Star Quilt (still a work in progress)
I'm off to elevate my mood and make some art!
positive benefits of art,
textile art

Sounds like a trip to a quilt show would be in order for this particular class. =-)

Hi Suzan! It was good to see you at the Quilt Show online blog page. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I've been trying to track down something definitive that links art to health and am coming up zero, so I was glad to see that you took a class in it. Sounds like they need you to teach them what they're missing! :) Love the antique star you pictured. Reminds me of Mom, she made several of those.
