Crystallization Process

Remember January? I did my first blog in January stating the following goals:

  1. Start blogging. I have read that the act of describing your thoughts to another helps to solidify concepts and makes you a better artist.

  2. Lose 25 pounds. I lost 50 pounds in 2008 so I just have to keep on the wagon (the ride gets really bumpy sometimes).

  3. Find my voice as an artist. I believe we all have a unique genius; I just have to refine mine.

I'm feeling pretty good about my progress so far this year.

  1. I'm blogging every month and really love it. I have met the most amazing people as a result.

  2. I am 12 pounds lighter than January. Anytime I'm not gaining weight I feel like I'm successful!

  3. I've spent the year playing and exploring. I feel closer to a refined voice but nothing is crystal clear.

I joined SAQAs Visioning Project which is going to help me with the crystallization process. I have an monthly action plan with the ultimate goal of having completed 5 work series of art quilts by Oct 1, 2010.

Here is November's action items:

Vision project
1. Join SAQA - Complete

2. Determine goal and set up my Vision page on SAQA website - Complete

3. Decide on a centralized theme - In progress

4. Decide on one construction technique - In progress, resist?

5. Pick a size to work - Complete

Okay the easy ones are mostly complete. But numbers 3 and 4!! Those are not easy tasks.  I sat down and made a list of things I enjoy and things I do not enjoy trying to narrow in on a theme for the 5 quilts.  I'll share my list with you soon.  If you were to do 5 quilts on the same subject, what would you choose?

Hey, I just thought of something. What if you chose Growth of an Artist and then reflected on the things most important to you as an emerging artist finding 'your on unique' way.
