Texas Quilt
Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 10:38AM Some of my husband's Naval Academy class mates are coming to town for the Houston Bowl and we are having them over the next day for brisket, black-eyed peas and pecan pie. I decided I needed a Texas-themed table cloth for our gathering (I was inspired by Sally's Salsa quilt!) so I pulled out an 8 year old UFO.
I had dreaded quilting this because of the thickness. I used technique where you place squares of fabric on gridded fusible interfacing and then sew along the grid both vertically and horizontally which encases all the raw edges. It is quicker and easier than piecing all those little squares but creates more bulk because of the interfacing. This is one stiff quilt!
