Get A Move On

What are your top 10 favorite quilting or textile arts tools? Here is my list (in no particular order):

1. Quality sewing machine with lots of attachments (love my Bernina!)
2. Rowenta iron that gets really hot and does not have an automatic shutoff
3. Rotary cutter
4. Wheels on everything
5. Fabric paint/dye/stamps/silk screening supplies
6. Fabric stash
7. Office supplies (post it notes, double sided tape, etc.)
8. Storage and organization ( I like boxes with labels and neat stacks of fabric)
9. Laptop computer (research, The Quilt Show, instructional DVDs, iTunes, read blogs)
10. Sharp scissors (the ones that no one else is supposed to touch)

Are wheels on your list? Wheels are high on mine.
My cute little black chairs have wheels. My laptop is wireless and on a stand with wheels.

My nifty work table is on large 4" wheels from Lowes and stores plastic bins underneath.

My hibiscus tree is on wheels so I can rotate it for even growth. My serger, printer, and cutting tables are also on wheels. I love the flexibility of being able to rearrange everything in my studio easily. I can roll the cutting table near the window on a beautiful day or near the television so I can catch every detail of The Fashion Show. Some days just call for the recreation of the studio to accommodate the creation of art.

Just when I was feeling quite smug about my flexible studio I noticed the 1913 Singer sewing machine cabinet that I use for a TV stand. It has wheels; maybe wheels and flexibility in the studio are not such a new idea after all.

That's a lot of wheels! My sewing table is on wheels but they're always locked. Great list!

Love the wheels on everything, such as the cutting table. Mine is about 8 x 4 ft and really heavy, so long ago we added heavy duty casters which raise it and allow me to pull it around as needed. One of my fabric storage double sided bookcases is on wheels, which it is too heavy to move otherwise.
