Satin stitch edging

The red beads from 2 blogs ago have resurfaced in a new form. I have cut them out and will appliqué the circles onto another quilted surface.
Now they look like seed pods to me - seed beads seeds!

I satin stitched (twice) over pearl cotton to make a nice clean finish on the edges. I used the couching foot; it holds the pearl cotton in place while doing the satin stitch. The foot makes it very easy to do; I probably would not have tried it otherwise!

Any little threads that were sticking out after stitching were colored with a black fabric marker.

This is a great finish for ATCs and other small projects.

Suzan...this is an interesting finish. I would have never thought to satin stitch over Perle cotton! Love the red circle on the new background. Are there more than one on the background?
